| System Requirements:
QuickTime 7.03 or later PictureReady may work, with earlier versions of QuickTime. However, since we do not test with earlier versions, these are not officially supported by Gallery. IMPORTANT NOTE: Mac OS X 10.4.2 or later. PictureReady may work, with earlier versions of Mac OSX, however it may not operate properly, and we do not test with earlier OSX versions, and hence systems earlier than 10.4.2 are not supported by Gallery. The PictureReady Remote utility will NOT work with pre-Tiger systems at all. G4 CPU / USB Port The USB port is required for the dongle. PictureReady is a high performance application, and it should be run on a system which has plenty of bandwidth for the capture to take place without undo stress on the system. For this reason we strongly recommend a Dual G4 or Dual G5 CPU. QuickTime Compatible Video Card / Device PictureReady requires a QuickTime compatible Video capture / playback card or interface. PictureReady supports most QuickTime compatible devices, although each device has its own quirks. PictureReady uses uncompressed or fixed rate compressed video, and hence it is not compatible with devices producing variable rate compression, such as the MotionJPEG mode on an Igniter Card. You can use DeckLink and Igniter cards which support uncompressed capture, optionally selecting DV or DVCPro compression to be added during capture. PictureReady does support Firewire DV bridges (for DV format capture) although best results will be obtained using a PCI capture card such as the Kona range from AJA. Serial Port (optional) If you are planning to perform programmed captures from Video tape, you will need a suitable serial port and machine control cable to control the video deck. LTC In Cable (optional) If you wish to use an audio LTC source for timestamping picture, then you will need a cable to inject the LTC to the mac sound input mini jack on channel 1. If you are using an XServe which has no built in Mac sound, you can use a USB audio interface such as the Griffin iMic Midi Interface (optional) If you wish to use Midi Machine Control to start and stop recording then you will need a midi interface. PictureReady monitors all input channels, so there is no need to configure the midi. ©2004 Gallery |
